In this article, we'll explain how to download and use the digital CNH app.

What is CNH Digital?

The digital CNH is an electronic version of the National Driver's License, which can be accessed through an application for smartphones and tablets. It was created to offer more convenience and security to drivers, who no longer need to carry the physical document with them at all times.

The digital CNH is valid throughout the national territory and has the same information as the printed CNH, such as the license category, validity, photo of the driver, among other information. In addition, it can be presented in blitz and traffic inspections, and has the same legal validity as the printed CNH.

How to download the CNH Digital app?

The first step to having a digital CNH is to download the official app, which is available for free in the Google Play and App Store app stores. To download the application, simply search for “CNH Digital” and select the application developed by Serpro (Federal Data Processing Service).

After downloading the application, it is necessary to register to validate the digital CNH. Registration can be carried out in two ways: through the application or in person at a Detran post.

Application registration:

To register through the application, you must have your physical driver's license in hand and follow the following steps:

1. Open the digital CNH application and select the “Register” option;
2. Enter the CPF number and date of birth;
3. Carry out facial validation, which consists of positioning the face within the indicated circle and taking a photo;
4. Enter the cell phone number and email, which will be used to send a validation code;
5. Enter the validation code received by SMS or email;
6. Create an access password.

After registering, the digital CNH will be available in the application and can be used in place of the printed CNH.

On-site registration:

To carry out the registration in person, it is necessary to attend a Detran post with the physical CNH and an identification document with a photo (RG, CNH, Passport, etc). The face-to-face registration process is quite simple and consists of:

1. Present the CNH and the identification document with photo;
2. Read the QR Code printed on the physical CNH with the application reader;
3. Perform facial validation;
4. Enter the cell phone number and email, which will be used to send a validation code;
5. Enter the validation code received by SMS or email;
6. Create an access password.

After completing the in-person registration, the digital CNH will be available in the application and can be used in place of the printed CNH.

How to use CNH Digital?

To use the digital CNH, it is necessary to have the application installed on the smartphone and to have the digital CNH registered and validated in the application. The process of using it is quite simple and consists of:

1. Open the digital CNH application;
2. Enter the access password;
3. Present the application screen with the digital CNH to the transit authority, when requested.

If the smartphone is out of battery or without internet signal, the physical CNH must be presented.

It is worth remembering that the digital CNH has the same legal validity as the printed CNH and can be used throughout the national territory.
